Memoir Seorang Guru tells the story of a hot-tempered teacher in his forties, Mr. Sunan, who was transferred to teach at a school in the interior. He, a widower after his wife's death, brought along his daughter, Kamariah, to study at the same school. To add to the challenge, the principal assigned him the task of being the class teacher of the lowest-performing class, with the primary responsibility of ensuring that his class achieved better UPSR results than before. At the same time, there were three students in his class, namely Alias, Midun, and Mat, who did not like Mr. Sunan and considered their class teacher to be a city teacher who was arrogant.
